Teacher spotlight – Bridget Ane Goddard

We spent 5 minutes talking to the incredible teacher Bridget Ane Goddard, who will be leading our Ibiza retreat this September.

Read on to find out what she’ll be bringing to the yoga retreat in addition to her BA Baracas stamp!

Why did you start practicing yoga?

Curiosity in the midst of stressful university study time and I never looked back.

What is your favourite posture and why?

Standing Head to Knee – love, love, love how it demonstrates that whatever you put your mind to you can achieve!

Where do you teach?

Primarily at my yoga school in Brighton, Yoga in the Lanes. I’m thrilled that I’m also teaching once again at Hot Yoga Society with all of you.

What do you like about teaching yoga?

To witness transformation in asana; one’s deepening of wisdom evident in technique, to see one’s heart open, eyes sparkle, smile wash over, courage and faith in ones mind as they dive into a backbend, patience and compassion when someone falls out of posture and is so willing to begin again.  I love inspiring and ultimately affecting positive change in our world; knowing that we are all moving toward balance little by little, day by day.

I am new to yoga, do you think I would enjoy a retreat with you?

Absolutely! I teach beginners every day and love how you bring such an open mind – a joy to witness all that changes so quickly – incredibly inspiring for us both.

Do you teach other forms of yoga other than Bikram?

I do – The JMY!  Jared McCann Yoga combines asana and classic meditation and Pranayama techniques drawn from Anna Forrest (Vinyasa), Bikram, Dharma Mittra, Iyengar and classic Ashtanga and I will be bringing some of that to Ibiza for everyone to try.

You’ll be offering meditation sessions on the retreat. What will our yogis get out of them?

We’ll focus on your body using breath control and awareness of physical alignment.  You will recognise where undue tension creates a block and be given the tools which release tension or move it to a place where it serves rather than restricts.  By the end of each session you’ll feel more open and aware of your energy channels and centres or chakras even if you have never meditated before.

What are you most looking forward to from the Ibiza retreat?

Being under the Spanish sun, doing what I love, with people I love and taking downtime away from all the needs-must of day-to-day.

What do you think you will bring to the retreat that is unique?

My BA Baracas stamp – strong, honest, fiercely passionate, an eye for detail and silly sense of humour!

What is your favourite thing to do on a yoga holiday?

I love to meditate outdoors, in the morning sun, under the moonlit night…when we come together, we are stronger for one another and the vibe is high!  We deepen each others experience and on previous retreats I’ve been astounded by the clarity of mind, inspired ideas and revelations that come through taking time away both to relax and for intensive study of yoga and meditation.

Have you taught a yoga retreat before? What was the best thing about it?

This will be the 3rd time I’ve led a yoga retreat – the best part is the attendees and witnessing your transformations.

Come and join BA for a wonderful week away in our Ibiza retreat this September 16-23rd. Find out more here

stay happy and healthy!
